ABOUT The Grown Kind
Hi,hello, I’m Laura. Based on the Fleurieu peninsular, I am lucky enough to grow flowers regeneratively at Down The Rabbit Hole Cellar Door. Adelaide has always been home and I feel blessed to have landed in the paradise of the South.
Always having been a lover of nature and its wonderful gifts, my flower journey began in 2018 when I dove into a Permaculture Design course. Being a hands-on learner, I began creating my own garden at Down the Rabbit Hole, providing flowers, herbs and vegetables for the cellar door and kitchen. Quickly overtaken by the beauty and reward of nurturing seed to cut flower, The Grown Kind was born, specialising in growing cottage garden variety flowers.
After starting a family in late 2022 the structure of The Grown Kind has shifted, finding us moving into a Flower CSA Subscription (Community Supported Agriculture) style for running the farm, to better service the community and to further guarantee the long term growth of flowers and our business in the most sustainable way.
The Grown Kind has always focused on regenerative and organic farming practices. As theres always little hands and mouths around, its something I don’t want to be exposed to every day, and don’t want to bring them into your home either! I don’t till the land, or use any sort of chemical and I’m constantly working to support local ecology.
I am moving towards a complete on farm system - meaning, I grow all of our own fertiliser and mulches to support the soil and what I grow. I also plant and prepare according to the lunar cycle. I have gained knowledge in permaculture, biodynamics and organic agriculture and am always seeking to learn new and better ways of supporting the regeneration of the land.
